FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO ACCIDENT EARLY THURSDAY, PLUS THREE ON WEDNESDAY

Emergency crews were called out early this (Thursday) morning to an accident in Chappell Hill.

At 5:30 a.m., the Brenham Fire Department was dispatched along with the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department to a crash with entrapment in the 8900 block of Highway 290 East.

Chappell Hill firefighters arrived on location first to find a person trapped inside their vehicle.  Brenham units arrived afterwards and helped Chappell Hill units with removing the patient from the vehicle.  After the patient was out, BFD members returned to service, while the Chappell Hill department stayed on location until the highway was cleared.

The patient was transported to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

The Brenham Fire Department also responded to three crash calls on Wednesday.

At 7:45 a.m., firefighters received a report of a transportation incident in the 3000 block of Highway 290 East.  There, they found a two-vehicle accident with no fluids leaking.  The department blocked one lane of traffic for the accident, and after the vehicles were removed from the roadway, units returned to service.

Shortly after 8 a.m., the department went out to the 1700 block of South Day Street for a transportation incident with the vehicle smoking.  Upon arrival, members found a one-vehicle accident with no smoke or flames.  They blocked one lane of traffic and checked for fluids, but no fluids were found.  They cleared the scene after the wrecker removed the vehicle from the roadway.

At 12:45 p.m., units were called to West Stone Street and South Day Street for a crash with entrapment.  However, everyone was out of their vehicles when firefighters arrived.  Upon checking for fluids and finding none, the department cleaned debris from the roadway and returned to the station after both vehicles were removed.
