CHAPPELL HILL MAN CHARGED WITH DWI, RESISTING ARREST

A Chappell Hill man faces multiple charges, including DWI and resisting arrest, after his arrest early Tuesday.

Brenham Police report that early Tuesday morning at 1:20, Officers responded to a business located in the 400 block of Highway 290 West in reference to a belligerent subject. While en route, the customer left the business and was reported traveling south on Highway 36.  Officers located the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of a business located in the 2800 block of Highway 36 South. Marijuana was observed in plain view in the vehicle. The driver, Charles Edward Bartley, 32 of Chappell Hill, failed to comply with commands and had to be physically removed from his vehicle. Bartley was found to have a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person. Additionally, a search of the vehicle revealed an open container of alcohol in the rear passenger floorboard. Bartley was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated – 3 or more offences, Resisting Arrest, Search or Transport, and Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz.
