GOFUNDME SET UP FOR VICTIMS OF HOUSE FIRE

A GoFundMe has been created for a Washington County family impacted by a house fire on Monday.

The fire occurred at a home in the 900 block of Allen Road.

According to Meyersville Volunteer Fire Chief Trey Burleson, the fire was located in a back bedroom and quickly extinguished, though the bedroom was a total loss.  Burleson said the rest of the house suffered smoke damage, but the structure was otherwise saved.

One person was transported by Washington County EMS in stable condition for smoke inhalation.

Ruby Perez, a relative of the victim, has started a GoFundMe to assist with helping her recover and to replace items lost in the fire, including beds and clothing.

Perez said the victim is a single mother of two children, neither of which were home at the time of the fire.  The mother, according to Perez, attempted to put the flames out and received some minor burns doing so, but she made it out safely with help from neighbors.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
