Just before 3:15 p.m., the Brenham Fire Department and Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to Highway 290 East and William B. Travis Lane for a transportation incident with entrapment.  Units arrived on location to find a two-vehicle accident with entrapment.

Brenham firefighters used tools to open the driver’s door of a silver car involved in the accident, then assisted EMS with patient care.  Chappell Hill units blocked traffic and cleaned the roadway off.  The Brenham department then returned to service, while the Chappell Hill department remained on location.

The extent of any injuries is currently unknown.

The Brenham Fire Department had two other calls on Sunday.

At 12:45 p.m., members of the Brenham Fire Department and Salem Volunteer Fire Department received a report of a grass fire in the 1300 block of Anderson Lane.  They arrived on location to find a small grass fire.  After the fire was extinguished, the Brenham department cleared the scene, while the Salem department stayed to put out hot spots.

At 7:15 p.m., BFD members were called to the corner of Rucker Street and Higgins Street for a gas leak.  Firefighters and City of Brenham Gas Department members responded to find a small leak in the ground by the street.  The Gas Department took control of the scene, and firefighters returned to service.
