TWO ACCIDENTS AMONG FIVE CALLS FRIDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to a pair of accidents on Friday.

Shortly before 5:45 p.m., the department was called to the 1200 block of Highway 290 West for a transportation incident.  Firefighters arrived on location to find a two-vehicle accident with no injuries and no fluids leaking.  After both vehicles were removed from the roadway, the department returned to service.

Around 6:45 p.m., units were dispatched to a transportation incident in the 1500 block of Harrison Road.  There, they discovered a two-vehicle accident with one of the vehicles on its roof.  Firefighters used dry absorbent on a small spill and assisted EMS with patient care.  One person was transported to the hospital.  Once the vehicles were removed from the roadway, the department cleared the scene.

Firefighters had three other calls on the day.

Around 8:45 a.m., units received a report of gas smell in the area of Baylor Scott & White – The Brenham Clinic, 600 North Park Street.  BFD members and the City of Brenham Gas Department found no readings on the detectors.

At 12:15 p.m., the department was sent to Motel 6, 555 Highway 290 West, for a report of a fire alarm sounding.  When they arrived, they found the building was being remodeled.  Units tried to reset the alarm and found a bad heat detector, so they advised an employee to have an alarm company check it out.

Just past 6 p.m., firefighters responded to another alarm call, this one at Baymont by Wyndham, 2950 Wood Ridge Boulevard.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, but they did find a water leak on the fire pump, so they advised employees to have an alarm company examine their system.
