According to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, Deputies were dispatched to the 6000 Block of Munke Road around 1am for a report of shots fired.

A large gathering of party-goers was on the scene following an annual trail ride put together by the Capital City Trail-Riders. Multiple 9-1-1 calls dropped from witnesses reporting shots and a fight in progress.

Deputy Wesley Arrison, who was already near the scene on a public intoxication call, said he heard 5-7 rapid fire gunshots coming from the party.

Arrison radioed for backup, and every Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy on duty hurried toward the shooter.

Within seconds of Deputy Arrison’s arrival, CCT’s hired armed security had detained the shooter and removed the firearm from his possession.

Arrison attempted to de-escalate the situation, and ensure that there were no injuries.

Sgt. Ben Wilson along with Deputies Cody Williams and Jason Fowler arrived to put a stop to the situation and end the party.

The suspect, 25-year-old Kavion Joiner, was arrested and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.

He was charged with Disorderly Conduct by way of brandishing and discharging a firearm in public, and Criminal Trespassing with a Firearm and Failing to Depart After Receiving Notice.

Joiner posted bond, and has since been released.
