CHAPPELL HILL CHAMBER PREPARING FOR 4TH OF JULY PARADE

The Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating the 47th Anniversary of the annual Independence Day parade.

The parade has been recognized as the “Biggest Small-Town Parade” in America.

This year’s parade theme is “Honoring Our Hometown Heroes: First Responders and Line Men.”

According to Chamber President Joel Romo, they wanted to honor the line-men for putting their safety at-risk, and going out during the recent storms to restore power to those that were without electricity.

They also want to honor the first responders, who are out there daily to protect and serve the community. The line-men and first responders will be the Grand Marshal for the parade.

The Patriot Guard Riders will help open the parade as they escort the Grand Marshal for the opening ceremonies.

The Chamber is also honoring all veterans. Veterans and their families are encouraged to ride on the Veterans floats.

Romo added that they have $850 in parade prize money that they will be awarding.

There is new category this year for “Best Classic Car” that has a prize of $100.

This year’s Parade Judges are 335th District Court Judge-Elect John Winklemann, Brenham City Council member and KTTX/KWHI Assistant General Manager Shannan Canales, and Michael Solar, with the Solar Law Firm.

The Chappell Hill Parade also features the return of the “World Famous Marching Kazoo Band. Children of any age are encouraged to join the band as they march through the parade playing “Yankee Doodle Dandy” on their kazoos.

Pre-registration is encouraged and check-in will be at the Rock Store in downtown Chappell Hill.

Rob Moorman and Company are providing the pre and post parade entertainment by performing on the DLS Interiors front porch.

Parking is free and will be available in the Main Street Parking lot by the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department.  All parade and Kazoo Band entries are due by 5pm on Monday, July 1.

All entry forms and additional parade information can be located on the Chamber’s website by visiting www.chappellhilltx.com, or by calling 979-421-6353.
