WASHINGTON CO. APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD APPROVES CONTRACT FOR COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE DATA

The Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors on Tuesday approved a contract for access to a commercial real estate database.

The contract is with Trepp, Inc., a data and technology solutions provider for the commercial real estate market and other industry users.  The company offers a database of commercial properties combined with sales transaction, lease and tax assessment data.

Chief Appraiser Dyann White said the database comes with commercial property information that will assist the appraisal district with commercial appraisals in the same way that sales data helps with appraisal of land and residential properties.

The contract is for three years and will begin on September 1st.  It comes with a first-year cost of $11,400, going up to $11,970 in year two and $12,568 in year three.

White also gave an update on appraisal notices and protests.  Business personal property appraisal notices were mailed on June 21st, after commercial notices went out on May 23rd and residential and land notices were mailed on April 24th

As of Tuesday, the appraisal district has received 3,498 protests, with just under 500 being settled, withdrawn or having a hearing done already.  Protests are scheduled to be heard through July 9th, and White anticipates the district will be able to certify by the July 25th deadline.

The board was also scheduled to receive a presentation of the proposed reappraisal plan for 2025-26, but the item was tabled to next month’s meeting.
