LCRA TAKING COMMUNITY GRANT APPLICATIONS IN JULY

The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) will accept applications in July for the next round of grants in its Community Development Partnership Program.

Community grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded for community projects throughout the LCRA’s wholesale power, water and transmission service areas.

Grants are awarded twice a year to organizations like volunteer fire departments, emergency responders, local governments, schools, libraries, civic groups, museums and other tax-exempt nonprofits.  The grants are not available to individuals, for-profit entities, professional associations, social service projects or limited-use facilities.

Applications will be available at https://lcra.org beginning on Monday and must be submitted by midnight on July 31st.  Most grants are for $25,000 or less, but several grants of up to $50,000 are awarded every grant cycle.

Applicants requesting more than $5,000 in grant funding must supply matching funds of at least 20 percent of the total project cost.  Projects must benefit or be available to an entire community and improve the value of a capital asset through building, renovating or purchasing equipment.

This past grant cycle, the LCRA awarded more than $1 million in grants for 44 community projects around the region.
