TWO BRENHAM STUDENTS GOING TO NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL FINALS RODEO
Two Brenham High School Sophomores will be among those competing in the National High School Finals Rodeo July 14-20 in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Dakota West and Mia Janosky qualified for Nationals by being among the top four finishers at the Texas High School Rodeo Association State Finals in Abilene.
The National High School Finals Rodeo consists of over 1,700 competitors from 43 U.S. states, five Canadian provinces, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand.
West is competing in Cutting, while Janosky is competing in Pole Bending.
West finished with the final round with a score of 143.5, which placed him just a half a point shy of first place. He still finished as Reserve Cutting Champion, and was named "Rookie of the Year."
Janosky rallied from a tough start where she finished in 14th place in the first round. After all the rounds were completed, her combined totals put her into fourth place by 0.047 seconds.
