WASHINGTON CO. EXTENSION TO HOST FREE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE PROGRAM

The Washington Extension Education Association (WEEA) will host a free program for the public to learn more about high blood pressure and how they can improve their diets and overall health.

The session will be held on Tuesday, August 6th at the Washington County Expo Event Center.

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., and free blood pressure readings will be offered until 6 p.m.  The program will begin after that, featuring an educational presentation, a cooking demonstration and a hands-on homemade spice blend session.

The WEEA says an estimated 46 percent of adults with hypertension, or high blood pressure, are unaware that they have the condition.  Only 42 percent of adults with hypertension are diagnosed and treated, and about 21 percent of adults with the condition have it under control.

Light refreshments will be provided at the program.
