BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. RESPONDS TO STORM CALLS MONDAY

The Brenham Fire Department responded to several weather-related calls on Monday as a result of Hurricane Beryl.

Just before 9 a.m., the department was called out to the 700 block of Sycamore Street for a power line down.  When units made location, they found a large tree across the roadway with power lines down.  Firefighters checked on the homeowners in the area and helped remove the tree from the roadway.  The City of Brenham Electric Department arrived to repair the power lines, and firefighters cleared the scene.

Around 11 a.m., BFD members were dispatched to West Fifth Street and Green Street for a report of a tree on the power lines.  They arrived to find a large tree laying across the road, but not in the power lines.  Firefighters and the City of Brenham Street Department removed the tree from the roadway.

Nearing 12:30 p.m., units were sent out to the 500 block of Sandra Drive for a report of a tree on a power line smoking.  They made location and found two trees on the power line, but the City of Brenham Electric Department was already on scene shutting the power off in the area, so firefighters returned to service.

Shortly after 4:15 p.m., the department responded to RR Donnelley, 1903 FM 389, for an alarm sounding.  While units were enroute, dispatch advised that the power had just come back on, causing the alarm to go off.  An employee confirmed to the department that the alarm was reset.
