AGRI-LIFE EXTENSION HOLDS HEALTH FAIR IN BELLVILLE

  

The Texas A&M Agri-Life Extension Office helped students in Austin County get ready for the upcoming school year with a recent health fair.

The Back-to-School Health Fair was held at Bellville High School and welcomed 375 participants.

The event was co-hosted by the Agri-Life Extension Office, the Austin County branch of the Department of State Health Services, and the Austin County Family and Consumer Sciences Advisory Board.

Over 300 backpacks were filled with school supplies and distributed to students from Austin County Schools and Met Head Start. 

Attendees also had the chance to access various screenings and family services provided by 30 vendors, represented by 42 individuals, all at no cost.

Austin County Extension Agent Michelle Wright said that by equipping students with essential school supplies, they not only enhance their ability to engage fully in their education, but also improve their prospects for future academic and economic success.

Wright added that the support from events like this alleviates some of the financial strain on struggling families.

The Extension Office also thanked the Bellville Lion’s Club, Woodmen Life of Sealy and Bellville, C.J.’s Tax Service of Bellville, and the Bellville Meat Market for helping to make the health fair possible.
