FAYETTE COUNTY FIREMEN EXTINGUISH TRACTOR AND HAY BALER FIRE
Emergency crews in Fayette County battled a vehicle fire that broke out on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Sheriff Keith Korenek, a 9-1-1 call came in around 12:30pm for a report of a tractor and a hay baler that had caught on fire on Green Meadow Lane.
Members of the Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department and Deputy James Ulbig were dispatched to the scene. The Flatonia Volunteer Fire Department was also called out for mutual aid.
Due to the extremely hot weather conditions, a Fayette County EMS unit went to the scene as well to handle any heat related exposures.
Upon their arrival, firefighters found a John Deere 4240 Cab Tractor and a John Deere 535 Baler fully engulfed in flames, and that the fire had also burned a large area of grass.
FD personnel were able to extinguished the blaze and keep the area contained so that there was no other property damage.
After investigating at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said that it is believed that the fire started from a bearing on the baler.
