RT-C OPENS SEASON WITH A WIN OVER ANDERSON-SHIRO
The Round Top-Carmine Cubettes opened up the 2024 Volleyball season with a 3-1 victory over Anderson-Shiro on Tuesday night.
RT-C won the first set 25-17. Anderson-Shiro came back to win the second set 25-19 to even the match at 1-1. The Cubettes then won two exciting sets 28-26 and 26-24 to take the match.
RT-C had two players achieve triple-doubles in the match. Freshman Madison Markwardt, who was playing in her first ever varsity game, finished with 16 kills, 19 digs, and 17 assists. She also added six aces.
Meanwhile, Senior Jill Eilers finished with 10 kills, 14 digs, and 25 digs. She also had three aces and a block.
Other top performers were Tess Eilers with 8 kills and 23 digs, and Bree Dooley with six kills and 11 digs.
RT-C now moves on to take part in the Columbus Tournament, which begins today (Thursday) and runs through Saturday. The Cubettes take part in pool play. They'll face Edna at 8am, Sealy at 10am, and St. John's at 1pm.
