LAGRANGE MAN ARRESTED AFTER RUNNING FROM THE LONG ARM OF THE LAW

Andrew Rivera (Fayette County Jail)

A wanted subject was arrested by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit on Wednesday morning.

According to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, the Narcotics Unit spotted Andrew Rivera of La Grange walking in the area of the Highway 71 bypass at the FM 609 exit.

Upon making contact with deputies, Rivera attempted to flee on foot, but was cut off by members of the Criminal Investigations Unit.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that Rivera tried to pretend that he was armed, and provoke investigators to fire on him.

Then, he tried to flee towards a tree line, but investigators closed the distance, and were able to arrest him without further incident.

Rivera was served with a warrant for Possession of Controlled Substance, and he also received an additional charge for Evading Arrest and Detention.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office sent out a thank you to the La Grange Police Department and the Fayette County EMS for their assistance with the case.
