THREE CALLS WEDNESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to three calls on Wednesday.

At 7:15 p.m., units went out to Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street, for a possible structure fire.  While enroute, dispatch advised that there was smoke in one of the rooms, and that other rooms were being evacuated.

Upon making location, firefighters found nothing showing from the exterior of the building, but crews later found that an AC unit motor broke, causing the smoke in the room.  They turned the power off to the AC unit in the attic and advised maintenance personnel of what they found before clearing the scene.

The remaining two calls were for fire alarms.  One came at 1:30 p.m. at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South.  The other was just before 4 p.m. at Cato Construction Company, 1906 Longwood Drive.

In both instances, proper code was given for cancellation by the alarm company, so firefighters returned to service.
