FIRE AT DOLLAR GENERAL IN SOMERVILLE UNDER INVESTIGATION

Multiple fire departments were called out to battle a reported structure fire at the Dollar General in Somerville.

Just after 8pm on Friday, members of the Somerville, Brenham, Birch Creek, and Gay Hill Fire Departments were called to the scene at 150 9th Street.

Upon their arrival, firefighters reported seeing smoke coming from the roof at the rear of the building.

Employees and customers were safely evacuated.

Brenham Firefighters assisted the Somerville Fire Department with an aerial operation.

Brenham FD personnel checked the roof and found the roof compromise.  They also provided extra lighting for firefighters to cut holes in the building and fight the fire.

The cause is under a further investigation.
