BLINN SAFETY DIRECTOR TO LEAD CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS DISCUSSION OCT. 2
Bryan Carlisle, Blinn College District Director of Safety and Risk Management, will present “Crisis Communications: A Discussion with Blinn’s Future Communications Professionals” on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m. as part of Blinn’s Communication Studies Speaker Series.
The presentation is open to the public and will take place in Room 105 of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Innovation Building on the Brenham Campus. It also will be livestreamed via Zoom in Room 120 of the F Building on the Bryan Campus.
The Communications Studies Speaker Series began in 2019, with featured speakers each semester who discuss communication topics.
Carlisle will share his expertise in managing crisis situations, offering students and attendees valuable insights into effective communication strategies during high-pressure scenarios. His experience includes oversight of Blinn’s law enforcement accreditation, research security, and behavioral threat assessment.
A retired captain from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Carlisle holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the Leadership Command College at the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas.
Carlisle is a decorated Master Texas Peace Officer and recipient of the 2008 Public Safety Hero Award from the U.S. House of Representatives. He has been a featured speaker at state conferences, served as a national core instructor for the “Below 100” initiative to reduce officer fatalities, and provided media relations guidance for the Global Center for Journalism and Democracy.
He has held multiple roles in law enforcement, including as Accreditation and Training Coordinator for the Shenandoah Police Department. Carlisle also has taught criminal justice courses at Sam Houston State University.
Blinn’s Communication Studies Program teaches students to communicate effectively with individuals and groups in personal, public, and business settings. The program focuses on developing strong written and oral communication skills, conflict management techniques, and critical thinking skills.
Blinn communication studies graduates can transfer to the state’s leading universities, including Texas A&M, Sam Houston State, the University of Texas at Austin, and many others.
