BLINN LIVESTOCK JUDGING TEAM PLACES THIRD AT TOP NOTCH
The defending national champion Blinn College livestock judging team placed third at the Top Notch Collegiate Swine Judging Contest, its first outing of the 2024-25 season.
Blinn totaled 2,590 points at the contest in Paragould, Ark. Team members were Lane Hogan V, Owen Seidenberger, Mason Wurzbach, Maggie Brumnett, and Shelby Cones.
Hogan placed second overall among individuals with 543 points and placed first in reasons.
Seidenberger was third overall with 540 points, finishing eighth in reasons. Cash Dean was 17th overall, Grant Kubala was 18th, and Cayle Doise was 19th.
Landon Kelley placed fifth in reasons.
Blinn will next compete at the National Barrow Show on Sunday, Sept. 15, in Austin, Minn.
The livestock judging team is part of Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program, which has one of the most active extracurricular programs in the state, including the Agriculture Club, wildlife, agriculture mechanics, and horticulture.
Blinn offers agriculture classes on all its campuses, with the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex on the Brenham Campus serving as the program’s headquarters.
