GIDDINGS POLICE TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR CITIZEN’S POLICE ACADEMY

The Giddings Police Department is currently taking applications for their upcoming Citizen’s Police Academy.

The classes will run for five consecutive Wednesday nights during the month of October beginning at 6pm each evening.

According to Giddings Police, the primary purpose of the Citizen’s Police Academy is to foster a better understanding and communication between the community and local law enforcement.

Local residents who sign up for the academy will:

gain insight into police operations,

understand the challenges and complexities of police work,

strengthen the community-police relationship,

and become more informed citizens by learning about legal rights, responsibilities, and the criminal justice system.

Applications for the Giddings Citizen’s Police Academy need to be submitted by this Friday at the close of business.

For more information, or if you have any questions, contact Chief Bill Weems at 979-540-2700, or send an e-mail to wweems@giddings.net.
