The Blinn College women's soccer team answered its coach's call for an offensive outbreak with a decisive 3-0 Region XIV victory over Texas Southmost College on Friday in Brownsville, Texas.

The Buccaneers jumped to 4-5-1 overall and 3-4 in the region standings.

Blinn earned the victory three days removed from a scoreless tie against North American University, a result that left head coach Alexandria Jackson imploring her team to find ways to cash in on its opportunities.

The Bucs hit the jackpot against the Scorpions, tallying its first goal just 30 seconds into the match.

"It was a fantastic job from the players today," Jackson said. "They have been through a lot of adversity this year and they continue to fight. We spoke all week about the lessons in adversity and adversity being necessary for success, and from start to finish today they were dominant. We dominated in possession, shots , and effort. They showed great heart today."

After freshman midfielder Rebecca Madrid opened the scoring for Blinn, sophomore midfielder Eleanor Sargeant made it 2-0 with a tally in the 6th minute.

Earning the victory in goal for the Bucs was sophomore keeper Jordan Clark, who made five saves.

The Bucs get back to work with a region bout against Jacksonville College scheduled for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas.
