ARSON SUSPECT AMONG FOUR PEOPLE ARRESTED BY BRENHAM POLICE SUNDAY

Four people were arrested Sunday charged with various counts including Arson.

Brenham Police report that early Sunday morning at 12:40, Officers responded to the 1000 block of Washington Street in reference to a report of a structure fire. Initial investigation revealed a resident, Juan Antonio Lopez, Jr., 44 of Brenham, intentionally ignited a fire in the bathroom of the apartment. Lopez was placed under arrest for Arson and transported to the Washington County Jail.

Then Sunday afternoon at 2:55, Officer Brayten Rolling initiated a traffic stop at the 300 Block of East Bluebell Road. It was discovered the driver, Ivis Jean Riles, 33 of Brenham, had five active warrants for Driving While License Invalid and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility issued out of the Brenham Municipal Court and Washington County Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Courts. Riles was placed in custody and transported to the Washington County Jail.

Then Sunday night at 9:05, Officer Garrett Downs conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Highway 290 West on a vehicle for a vehicle violation. Investigation revealed that the driver, Charlie Lopez, 24 of Somerville, had purchased alcohol for his girlfriend identified as Alissa Antunez, 20 Years of Age.  Lopez was placed in custody for Purchase Furnish Alcohol to A Minor.  Both subjects were also cited for Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage in a Motor Vehicle. Lopez was transported to the Washington County Jail where he was booked in.

Then Sunday night at 11:40, Officers responded to Lott Lane in reference to a weapon involved situation. Investigation revealed that Freddie Hampton, 47 of Brenham, was in possession of narcotics, unlawfully carrying a firearm, and in violation of bond conditions. Hampton was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail, where he was booked in on charges of 2 counts of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession Marijuana between 2 oz. and 4 oz., Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Violation of a Bond or Protective Order.
