FIREFIGHTERS PUT OUT LATE-NIGHT FIRE AT NAVASOTA HIGH SCHOOL
Multiple agencies battled a fire at Navasota High School late Thursday night into this (Friday) morning.
Navasota Fire Department Assistant Chief John Flores said units were dispatched shortly before 10:15 p.m. for a report of smoke coming out of the Career and Technical Education Annex Building. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the north side of the structure and fire showing on the roof.
Firefighters from the Navasota, College Station, South Brazos County and Anderson Fire Departments responded, along with the Navasota Police Department and St. Joseph EMS.
The fire was under control in half an hour and was put out around 1 a.m. According to Flores, the damage was mostly limited to the old woodshop area.
The building was unoccupied at the time, and there were no injuries to anyone on location. Navasota ISD said classes would proceed as scheduled today.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. Flores said the State Fire Marshal’s Office will come out Monday to aid in the investigation.
Flores thanks all of the mutual aid responders that assisted during the call.
