BRENHAM CUBS HOSTING RUDDER IN AN IMPORTANT DISTRICT GAME

The Brenham Cubs are getting ready for a big game tonight (Friday). Brenham will host the Rudder Rangers at 7pm at Cub Stadium.

Rudder comes into the game with a 6-0 overall record, while the Cubs are 5-1. They are both currently in a three way-tie with Killeen Ellison for first place in the district.

The Cubs are coming off a 55-0 victory over Waco last Friday.

The Brenham offense is led by RB Jakoby Dixon (So.), who has carried the ball 122 times for 1,243 yards and 17 touchdowns. He averages 10.2 yards per carry.

QB Jordan Harvey (Sr.) leads the air attack completing 52 or 83 passes (63%) for 873 yards. He is just 127 yards away from 1,000 yards for the season. Harvey also has 11 touchdowns to just four interceptions. His QB Rating is 117.6.

The receiving corps is lead by a pair of juniors. Chris Guidry has 14 receptions for 318 yards and five touchdowns. Cartelle Brown has 14 receptions for 233 yards and four touchdowns.

The Defense is lead by a trio of junior linebackers. Caleb Espinoza is the team's leading tackler with 59 overall (46 solo, 13 assists ). Meanhwhile, Kristian Prosper is second on the team with 45 tackles, while Doyle Brown is third with 34 tackles.

Rudder is coming off of a 28-21 over Waco University.

The Rangers are led by QB Javyn Jessie (Sr.), who transferred from Navasota. Jessie has completed 108 of 147 passes (74%) for 1,494 yards. He has 20 touchdowns to only 4 interceptions, and a quarterback rating of 133.99. Jessie has also rushed the ball 39 times for 216 yards and six touchdowns.

Ja'Quise Martin (Sr.) is the leading receiver for the Rangers with 36 catches for 786 yards and 13 touchdowns.

A.J. Morrison (Jr.) is their top rusher with 89 carries for 431 yards and four touchdowns.

Prior to the game, Brenham High School will be inducting the newest class of the Cub Football Hall of Honor. The class includes Brandon Collins, Jeffrey Fillmore, Jeremy Hall, and the 2009 State Runner Up Team.

There will be a sold-out luncheon at the Blinn College Student Center, and then the honorees are also going to be recognized on the field at the game.
