NINE CALLS BETWEEN WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

  

The Brenham Fire Department was called out nine times over the past two days.

Around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, units responded to a fire alarm at Super 8 By Wyndham, 2209 Highway 290 East.  They arrived to find a bad smoke detector and advised the manager of the issue before returning to service.

At 6:30 p.m., firefighters went out to a crash in the 1300 block of Highway 290 West.  There, they found a two-vehicle accident and provided traffic control until both vehicles were removed from the roadway.

The remaining seven calls came on Thursday.  First was a crash at 8:15 a.m. in the 1700 block of Highway 105.  BFD members made location and found a two-vehicle accident.  They provided traffic control until the vehicles were removed from the roadway.

Shortly before 5 p.m., the department received a report of a fire alarm at the Parklane Villas, 800 Hosea Street.  Upon arrival, personnel found a company working on the alarm system, so they cleared the scene.

Around 5:15 p.m., a call came in for a crash with possible entrapment in the 4300 block of Highway 290 East.  Brenham units responded along with the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department and found a two-vehicle accident with no entrapment.  They then provided traffic control until the debris was removed.  The scene was turned over to the Chappell Hill department.

Just past 8:30 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a home in the 700 block of West Mansfield Street for a gas odor.  The City of Brenham Gas Department also responded, and after checking the area for a leak or smell, the gas department released the fire department from the call.

Shortly after 9:15 p.m., the department was called out to a crash in the 2100 block of Highway 290 West.  When units arrived, they discovered both vehicles had been moved into a parking lot, and after checking with Brenham police, they were released from the scene.

Approaching 9:45 p.m., BFD members responded to a fire alarm at a home in the 900 block of West Third Street.  After checking the alarm, they found water leaking into the smoke detector.  They advised the homeowner of the issue before returning to service.

Just before midnight, firefighters received a report of a crash at Highway 290 East and Gun and Rod Road.  They discovered a vehicle that had hit a deer, with the vehicle sustaining minor damage to the front.  Units checked with Brenham police and were released from the scene.
