WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO REVIEW 2023-24 SCHOOL LANDS REPORT

Washington County Commissioners will consider the 2023-24 school lands report and disburse funds to Brenham and Burton ISDs when they meet Tuesday.

Each year, commissioners distribute revenue to Brenham and Burton schools from mineral rights, farming and hunting leases from Washington County’s school land in Tom Green County.

Last year, the county allocated $695,096 to Brenham ISD and $81,547 to Burton ISD.  The money goes into the school districts’ general funds and is allocated based on their average daily attendance.

Also on Tuesday, the court will act on an agreement between the county and Baylor Scott & White, pertaining to EMS transport rates for patients on the Baylor Scott & White Health Plan.

In addition, commissioners will vote on a memorandum of understanding between the county and the Brazos Valley Economic Development Corporation for marketing, regional outreach, and collective business and economic development goals.  There will also be items to direct the county auditor to conduct an audit of the asset seizure and forfeiture accounts of the 21st Judicial District Attorney’s Office, and to approve the county’s 2025 holiday schedule.

Several reports will be presented, including quarterly updates from EMS and Economic Development and monthly reports from the auditor and treasurer.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
