BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. RESPONDS TO THREE CALLS WEDNESDAY

Brenham firefighters went out to three calls on Wednesday.

At 9 a.m., the Brenham Fire Department was dispatched to a home in the 400 block of East Mansfield Street for a report of a carbon monoxide alarm sounding.  Units arrived and found nothing showing from the exterior of the building.  They used the gas detector but did not find any reading, so they replaced the batteries in the detector and returned to service.

Shortly after 12:45 p.m., firefighters responded to South Austin Street and West Stone Street for a transportation incident.  They made location and found a two-vehicle accident.  After checking for injuries and finding none, the department cleaned the roadway off and returned to service once both vehicles were removed.

Approaching 5 p.m., BFD members were called to the 1500 block of Meadow Lane for a report of a smoke investigation.  They arrived in the area and found a homeowner burning in their backyard.  The department spoke with the homeowner and advised her on the city code of burning trash in the city.  Personnel returned to the station after the homeowner extinguished the fire.
