Story by Joe Alberico, Blinn College Sports Information
The Blinn College women's basketball team earned its fourth consecutive win with a 73-41 rout of Nelson University on Tuesday at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.
The Buccaneers' victory in their home opener pushed their overall record to 5- 1 on the year.
Nelson did its best to keep up with Blinn in the first quarter, as the Bucs led just 27-18 after the opening 10 minutes of play.
From there, however, Blinn took complete control.
The Bucs out-scored the Lions 31-10 in the second period for a 58-28 cushion at halftime.
Blinn went into the fourth quarter leading 65-33.
Bucs head coach Jeff Jenkins was able to utilize his entire bench, and all 15 Buccaneers found their way onto the scoresheet.
"This was a good game to play all 15 players who work so hard in practice," Jenkins said. "We had 14 players get into the scorebook, which is something you love to see."
Sophomore guard Nala Richardson led Blinn with 14 points. Freshman guard Taylor Spencer and freshman forward Crystal Jones tacked on eight points apiece, sophomore guard Wynter Jones and freshman forward Antronea Jackson both had six, and sophomore guards Jonesha Neal and Ja'Nya Thomas added five each.
The Bucs get back to work when they host 21st-ranked Collin College at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Kruse Center.
