CHAPPELL HILL VFD RESPONDS TO FOUR CALLS OVER THE WEEKEND
The Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department responded to four calls over the weekend.
Firefighters were dispatched on Friday at 8:15pm to Highway 290 East near FM 2447. After additional information was provided, it was determined that one vehicle had been driving recklessly, and had crashed into another vehicle. Chappell Hill VFD members arrived on the scene, and performed traffic control, as well as, fluid mitigation.
The next call came in Saturday night at 6pm where VFD units were dispatched to a reported crash without entrapment in the area of the Phillips Veterinary Hospital and Highway 290 East. When they arrived, firefighters found two vehicles in the center median against the cable barrier with moderate damage. They then performed traffic control for law enforcement until they were eventually released from the scene.
On Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm, the Chappell Hill VFD was requested as mutual aid for a grass fire in the 16,000 block of Sweed Road for a brush truck, ATV, and a tanker. Firefighters assisted with extinguishing the fire and hand-crew operations to ensure that the flames were out. They cleared the scene approximately three hours later.
The final call came in on Sunday night just before 10pm. Chappell Hill Firefighters were dispatched to a reported crash without entrapment in the 11,000 block of Highway 290 East. When they arrived, VFD units found a vehicle had struck a deer, and been pulled off onto the shoulder. Firefighters performed traffic control until being released by law enforcement.
