BRENHAM ISD GIFTED & TALENTED PROGRAM ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS
Brenham ISD’s nomination process is now open for the Gifted and Talented (GT) education program.
Brenham ISD performs a screening process each year to identify gifted and talented students. Nomination packets are available through Friday, December 13th.
GT-qualifying students are eligible to participate in the Challenging Scientific Investigations (CSI) program. CSI provides opportunities for students in grades 2-6 to explore science and technology as they read, write, solve problems, conduct experiments and apply science to their daily lives.
Brenham ISD screens students for the GT program using a multi-criteria approach to selection with three phases of placement. GT identification is based upon data collected from achievement tests, ability tests, parent and teacher observation surveys, and student products from Kingore Planned Experiences.
Parents or guardians may pick up a checklist and a request for screening form from their student’s campus counselor or the Brenham ISD Administration Office at 711 East Mansfield Street. Checklists are also available at www.brenhamisd.net.
Testing will begin on campuses the week of January 13, 2025. Campus counselors and district personnel will meet the week of March 3, 2025 to review collected data and determine eligibility.
Letters notifying families of the results will be mailed no later than March 7, 2025 for the 2025-26 school year. Students identified and given parent permission will begin their first day in the GT program on the first day of the 2025-26 school year.
