THREE ACCIDENTS AMONG SIX CALLS MONDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department was called out six times on Monday, including three accident calls.

The first accident was reported at 1:45 p.m. in the 3700 block of Highway 36 South.  Firefighters made location to find a two-vehicle crash on the shoulder of the roadway.  They provided traffic control and checked both vehicles to make sure no fluids were leaking.  Law enforcement arrived and released the fire department from the scene.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., units went out to a two-vehicle crash in the 200 block of Highway 290 West.  The crash was located in the middle of the roadway.  Firefighters provided traffic control and ensured no fluids were leaking from either vehicle before being released by law enforcement.

Around 8:45 p.m., BFD members responded to Highway 290 at Highway 36 North for a two-vehicle crash on the shoulder of the road.  They provided traffic control and checked both vehicles for fluids leaking, of which there were none.  Once the vehicles were cleared from the roadway, the department returned to service.

No injuries were reported from any of the accidents.

Also on Monday, nearing 7:30 p.m., firefighters were called to a home in the 1500 block of Lee Street for a gas odor.  The fire department and City of Brenham Gas Department arrived to check the area for a leak or smell.  After investigation, the fire department was released from the scene.

At 10 p.m., a fire alarm was reported at Walgreens, 2411 South Day Street.  Units made location to find the alarm sounding, but after checking the system, they found a bad detector.  The department advised store personnel of the issue before clearing the call.

Approaching 11:45 p.m., firefighters responded for a smoke investigation in the 2000 block of FM 389.  Upon making location and checking the area, no smoke was found, so they returned to the station.
