FOUR CALLS WEDNESDAY, ONE EARLY THURSDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to four calls on Wednesday and another early this (Thursday) morning.

At 10 a.m. Wednesday, firefighters were sent out to a home in the 700 block of North Blue Bell Road for a smoke investigation.  They arrived in the area and found that the homeowner was burning in the yard.  The department spoke to the homeowner and advised them of city code.  The homeowner then extinguished the fire.

Shortly before 3 p.m., units received a report of a gas leak at Fischer Tile & Floor Covering, 2221 South Market Street.  Firefighters and the City of Brenham Gas Department made location to find a small leak on the pipe.  The gas department repaired the leak, and the fire department returned to service.

Just past 7:15 p.m., BFD members were dispatched for an alarm sounding at Del Sol Food Company Shipping, 3151 South Blue Bell Road.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building.  Upon speaking with an employee, firefighters learned the alarm had been accidentally set off.  The alarm was reset, and units cleared the scene.

A few minutes shy of 8:15 p.m., the department was called to a transportation incident in the 1800 block of South Blue Bell Road.  There, units discovered a two-vehicle accident with minor damage.  They helped with patient care and cleaned the roadway off, returning to service after both vehicles were removed from the roadway.

Around 5:45 a.m. today, a transportation incident was reported at FM 390 East and Affleck Road.  Brenham units responded along with the Gay Hill Volunteer Fire Department.  A sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene to find a single-vehicle accident with the driver still inside.  However, Brenham units were cancelled, as the driver was able to get out of the vehicle and Gay Hill VFD members made location.
