BRENHAM POLICE ARREST THREE ON VARIOUS WARRANTS
Brenham police made warrant arrests on three subjects on Monday.
At approximately 6 p.m., Officer Ramon Torres was dispatched to the 2200 block of South Market Street regarding a crash that caused damage to the property. Upon arrival, police found that 37-year-old Jaimie Lee Nelson of Houston had an active parole warrant. Additionally, police say a probable cause search revealed Nelson to be in possession of marijuana. She was transported to the Washington County Jail, where she was charged with Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz. and Violation of a Parole Warrant.
Shortly past 6:45 p.m., Officer Garrett Downs, working with the Highway Enforcement and Traffic (HEAT) Unit, conducted a traffic stop in the area of Old Chappell Hill Road. Investigation revealed that the driver, 25-year-old Tyrika Scyrus of Brenham, showed to have five active warrants: two for No Driver’s License, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, Motion to Revoke Probation for Possession of Marijuana 2oz. – 4 oz., and Speeding Over 10% Above the Posted Limit. Scyrus was also charged with Failure to ID as a Fugitive from Justice and Resisting Arrest, Search or Transport. She was booked in at the Washington County Jail.
Just before 9:30 p.m., Officer James Catchings, working with the HEAT Unit, stopped a vehicle at Lauraine Street and South Blue Bell Road. The driver, identified as 29-year-old Derrick Smith of College Station, was found to have two warrants, one out of Brazos County for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, and the other from Washington County for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail for booking.
