CHANGES COMING TO TEXAS BIRTHDAY BASH IN NAVASOTA
Preparations are underway for this year’s Texas Birthday Bash in Navasota, and some changes are being made.
Back in July, the City of Navasota approved an agreement to turn the operation of the event over to Charlie Diggs Entertainment and Promotions.
According to the Navasota Examiner, the agreement was approved after learning from then-City Manager Jason Weeks that they had lost $450,000 over the last two years on the event.
Among the changes being implemented by Diggs is to move the celebration from the Navasota City Hall to August Horst Park. Diggs said that the move is being done to ease traffic congestion in the downtown.
They are also reducing the Birthday Bash from a two-day event to a one-day event, which this year will be Saturday, March 1.
Diggs explained that the reasoning for reducing the number of days is because most folks were going to one night or the other, but not both.
Musical entertainment has already been announced for the Bash including headliner Clay Walker. He will be joined by Randall King, Braxton Keith, Dylan Wheeler, and Julie Roberts. More entertainment announcements are expected.
Two things that will remain are the children’s zone and the food and craft vendors. A new addition for the children’s zone is a train ride around the festival grounds, while a new addition to the food vendors will be crawfish.
Tickets are on-sale now at www.texasbirthdaybash.com. VIP tickets are available at $150 in advance, or $160 on the day of the event. VIP tables of eight are available for $1,500.
General admission is $35 in advance, and $40 on the day of the event. Kids 12 and under get in for free.
