NAVASOTA TO CELEBRATE MLK DAY JAN. 18

  

The City of Navasota and Navasota Citywide Mission have announced their plans for this year’s observation of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The celebration will be held on Saturday, January 18th, with a theme of “Moving Forward by the Power of Love.”

Activities begin at 11 a.m. with a parade.  Line-up begins at 10 a.m. on Brosig Avenue, and guests can watch the parade from Washington Avenue and LaSalle Street.  No registration is required to participate.

After the parade, a memorial program will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, 1111 South LaSalle Street.  The program will feature Dr. Ruth J. Simmons, President Emerita of Prairie View A&M University, Brown University and Smith College.

The celebration is free and open to the public.
