BLINN MEN LOSE TO #7 PANOLA 91-77 ON THE ROAD
Story by Joe Alberico, Blinn College Sports Information
The Blinn College men's basketball team returned from its winter break Saturday only to take a 3 1/2-hour road trip to seventh-ranked Panola College.
It was a tough start to the new year for the Buccaneers who succumbed to their Region XIV foe in a 91-77 loss in Carthage, Texas.
"They put it on us early and built a big lead by halftime, and that was sort of the story of the game," Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher said. "Panola is ranked number seven in the country for a reason; they're a very good basketball team."
The Bucs played well in the second half, pulling to within single digits, but couldn't get over the hump.
"We fought hard but dug ourselves in too big of a hole in the first half," Schumacher added. "All we can do is put this one behind us and get ready to play again on Wednesday."
Blinn (6-7 overall, 2-3 Region XIV) got a team-high 22 points from sophomore guard Reese Miller. Sophomore forward Anthony Isaac registered a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds, sophomore forward London Maiden tallied 16 points, and freshman guard Jakeel Registe added 14.
