BLINN WOMEN BOUNCE BACK WITH 65-55 WIN OVER RANGER
Story by Joe Alberico, Blinn College Sports Information
The 25th-ranked Blinn College women's basketball team hit the road Monday and returned home with a 65-55 victory over Ranger College.
The Buccaneers (12-3) went into Ranger, Texas, and earned a two-game season sweep of the Rangers. The hosts stuck around for most of the game, but Blinn did just enough to outlast them.
"We made just enough plays to win on the road," Buccaneers head coach Jeff Jenkins said. "We have a lot of work to do the next several weeks in practice if we want to peak in February."
Blinn led just 14-10 after the first quarter and 28-24 by halftime, and Ranger was still within 44-39 heading into the fourth quarter.
A 21-16 final period helped the Bucs fend off the Rangers down the stretch.
Leading the way offensively for Blinn was sophomore guard Wynter Jones, who tallied 20 points. Sophomore guard Jonesha Neal had 11 points and sophomore forwards Tocarra Johnson and DJ Kincade added 10 and eight points, respectively.
Blinn also defeated Ranger 55-37 on Dec. 6, in Brenham, Texas.
Up next for the Bucs is a Region XIV clash with Kilgore College at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Kruse Center in Brenham.
