CENTRAL TEXAS BEEKEEPERS TO HOST 15TH ANNUAL BEEKEEPING SCHOOL IN BRENHAM MARCH 1
The Central Texas Beekeepers Association is now taking registrations for its 15th Annual Beekeeping School in Brenham.
Anyone who wants to learn about bees or how to become a beekeeper is invited to attend the event on Saturday, March 1st at Brenham High School from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Attendees will learn about the various parts of the bee hive, how to build and assemble equipment, how to install and inspect bees, and how to properly light a smoker. They will also learn how to safely dress to avoid being stung and what to do in case they are stung.
Weather permitting, guests will also be able to “suit up” and observe a live bee hive while it is opened, getting to see how to extract honey.
The school is open to all ages and has classes for all skills, from beginners to advanced-level.
Early admission is $100 for the first adult and $90 for any additional adults in the family. Active and retired military members can enter for $80. Students, including those in college, is $40. Children under 12 are $25. The cost to register will go up after February 28th.
Included in the cost are a catered barbecue lunch with Blue Bell Ice Cream and a “school book” with information about beekeeping. There will also be door prizes and a drawing for a complete bee hive.
