CITY OF NAVASOTA TO HOST BLACK HISTORY CELEBRATION FRIDAY

The City of Navasota invites the public to celebrate Black history and culture at a special program tomorrow (Friday).

The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Navasota Center.  Featured guest speakers will be Christina Lee-Williams of Navasota and Reverend Randy Wells of Brenham.

Rev. Wells says the evening will focus on encouragement, inspiration and motivation on the topic of Black history.

Rev. Wells is the Executive Director of Faith Mission and is active with several boards and organizations, including Blinn College, the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and Washington County Ministerial Association.  He is an ordained minister and the creator and host of the “Building Bridges to the Bahamas” radio broadcast.  He is also the author of two books, “The Grandmother’s Rule” and “Few Fathers”, and will sign copies at tomorrow’s event.

Lee-Williams is an English-Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at Arrow Academy in Bryan and is studying Funeral Directing with plans to open a mortuary.  In addition, she has authored four short stories and two gospel plays, and intends to produce a short film in the future.

The event is free and open to all who wish to attend.
