ANGELINA BUZZER BEATER SINKS BLINN MEN
Story by Joe Alberico, Blinn College Sports Information
It took a 3-pointer in the final second of regulation to help Angelina College escape with a 72-69 Region XIV victory over the Blinn College men's basketball team Wednesday in Lufkin, Texas.
The Buccaneers dropped to 7-9 overall and 3-5 in region play.
"It was nip and tuck the entire game," Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher said. "We played extremely hard, we competed, and we played together, but Angelina had the final possession of the game and made the last shot. That's how it goes sometimes."
The Bucs led the region-leading Roadrunners 36-34 at halftime.
Blinn sophomore guard Reese Miller led his team with 18 points, and sophomore forward London Maiden added 12 to go with eight rebounds.
"We're going to continue to get better," Schumacher added. "We've had some adversity this season but adversity teaches you how to persevere, and I believe we're going to learn and get better. "We just have to keep staying positive and keep fighting, and positive things will happen for us in the end."
Up next, the Bucs travel to Bossier City, La., for a region matchup against Bossier Parish Community College at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
