KRENEK AND COOK FILE FOR RE-ELECTION
With the filing period underway for the May 3rd Brenham City Council and Brenham School Board election, KWHI News has learned that two more incumbents will be seeking re-election.
Jared Krenek has filed for re-election to Position 7 on the Brenham School Board.
Krenek was first elected in May 2021 when he won a three-way race over incumbent Melvin Ehlert and fellow challenger Christine Giese.
Krenek currently serves as the Board’s Vice President, a position he was chosen for in May 2024.
Other School Board positions up for election include Position 5 held by Tommie Sullivan and Position 6 held by Board President Natalie Lange.
Sullivan and Lange have not yet announced whether they plan to seek re-election.
Meanwhile, Leah Cook has filed for re-election to At-Large Position Six on the Brenham City Council.
Cook won election to her first term in May 2021 when she defeated Albert Buchanan. The incumbent at the time, Susan Cantey, chose not to run for re-election.
Other City Council positions on the ballot include the Ward 1 seat currently held by Shannan Canales, the Ward 3 seat held by Dr. Paul LaRoche III, and the At-Large Position Five seat held by Clint Kolby.
La Roche and Kolby have already filed for re-election. While Canales has not yet filed, she did announce that she plans to seek another term.
The deadline to file for the May 3rd election is Friday, February 14.
