GRIMES COUNTY MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO INDECENCY WITH A CHILD

Melvin Boldin (Grimes County Jail)

A Grimes County man pled guilty to Indecency with a Child during Wednesday’s session of the 506th District Court.

63-year-old Melvin Boldin pled guilty to the charge and was sentenced 30 years in prison by Judge Gary Chaney.  Because of Boldin’s previous felony convictions, the punishment was enhanced.

The case began back on July 4, 2022, when the Navasota Police Department took a report of child sexual abuse.

Boldin was accused of molesting a young boy at a residence in Navasota while the child was trying to sleep.

Navasota Police Investigator Travis Mullins conducted interviews and gathered evidence.

D.A. Investigator John Wren conducted an interview with Boldin back on April 4, 2024 and obtained incriminating statements.

According to the Grimes County D.A.’s Office, Boldin told Wren that the child victim was honest, and wouldn’t make up the allegation.

Assistant District Attorney Meagan Ghormley, who was the prosecutor on the case, said that she was grateful for a satisfactory resolution to the case, and also that the victim did not have to testify.
