HUNTSVILLE DEFEATS CUBETTES 60-35

The Brenham Cubette Basketball Team couldn't overcome a rough start as they fell to the Huntsville Lady Hornets 60-35 tonight (Friday) at the Brenham High School Gym.

Points were hard to come by in the first half. Huntsville outscored the Cubettes 16-4 in the first quarter and 9-2 in the second quarter to take a 25-6 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The action did pick up in the second half. However, both the third and fourth quarters still belonged to the Lady Hornets. They outscored Brenham 19-17 in the third and 16-12 in fourth to secure the win.

Antyiahna Lang was the only Cubette to reach double digits with 12 points.

Brenham got seven points from Janiyah Mathis, six points from Jalaya Hancock, and five points from Yazmine Gaines.

The loss drops the Cubettes to 18-23 overall and 0-9 in district. Brenham is also now mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

Next up, they will travel to A&M Consolidated at Tuesday for a 6:30pm game.
