BLINN DIRECTOR OF SIMULATION TO PRESENT AI WORKSHOP AT INTERNATIONAL NURSING CONFERENCE
Blinn College District Director of Simulations Sami Rahman and several collaborators will present a workshop on the best practices of using generative artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare education at the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning’s (INACSL) annual conference.
“Presenting at this conference shines a spotlight on Blinn’s commitment to being a leader in healthcare education,” Rahman said. “The landscape of AI is constantly changing, and our faculty is committed to using this tool for the benefit of our students as well as other healthcare professionals.”
The group will present “From Prebrief to Debrief: Using AI to Elevate Simulation Standards” in Denver, Colo., June 19-22. Reflecting the theme “Elevating the Simulation Experience,” INACSL’s conference is a forum for leading simulationists, researchers, and solution providers to learn about and share their knowledge in the science of healthcare simulation. In 2024, Rahman presented her work on AI at conferences for the Texas Nursing Student Association (TNSA) and the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN).
The interactive presentation will use a hands-on approach to guide attendees on how generative AI can effectively be integrated into nursing simulation practice to benefit students.
“AI has become a supportive tool for designing simulation-based learning activities for our programs,” Rahman said. “Blinn’s use of this technology is a testament to the College’s dedication to providing students with the best possible training and educational opportunities to make sure they are prepared to embark on rewarding careers and emerge as leaders in their respective fields.”
Blinn offers a variety of nursing career options, including Vocational Nursing and Associate Degree Nursing, both of which use Virtual Reality (VR) trainings to complement their high-fidelity simulators. Current vocational nurses and paramedics also can earn an associate degree through transition programs, and numerous transfer opportunities provide associate degree graduates with a pathway to earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and beyond.
In addition to nursing careers, Blinn’s Division of Health Sciences offers programs in Dental Hygiene, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Science, Health Information Technology, Health Sciences Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiologic Technology, and Surgical Technology.
