NAVASOTA MAN GETS PRISON TERM FOR INDECENCY WITH A CHILD
A Navasota man will be heading to prison on a second-degree felony charge of Indecency with a Child.
70-year-old Bonifacio Flores pled guilty to the charge in the 506th District Court.
The case began back on March 17, 2021 when Navasota Police Department Investigator Jacob Tielke began looking into a report made by two female children against Flores.
During the punishment hearing, both victims testified in court and went into detail about the sexual abuse perpetrated by Flores.
One of the victims told Judge Gary Chaney that the emotional toll of the abuse, and waiting for justice had led to severe depression and suicide attempts.
Assistant District Attorney Meaghan Ghormley asked for the maximum punishment that the law allows, which is 20 years in prison.
The defense asked for probation due to the age of Flores and his minimal criminal history.
After hearing from both sides, Judge Chaney sentenced Flores to 15 years in prison.
Following the hearing, Grimes County District Attorney Andria Bender recognized Investigator Tielke, ADA Ghormley, Crime Victims Coordinator Brenda Williams, and Crime Victims Liaison Gilverta Diaz for their work on the case.
