JAIL KITCHEN IMPROVEMENTS, NEW CONVENIENCE STORE LEAD BRENHAM BUILDING PERMITS IN JANUARY
Renovations at the Washington County Jail kitchen and a new convenience store started out the new year of building permits for the City of Brenham on a high note.
The largest permit for the month of January went to the county for $3,088,500, to perform jail kitchen additions and laundry room remodeling.
In December, Washington County Commissioners awarded the jail kitchen contract to Chappell Hill Construction. The project is funded through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars.
The second-biggest permit was issued to 30K Holdings LLC for $2 million, going toward construction of a new Zippy J’s convenience store and fueling station at 804 East Blue Bell Road. Work is led by ARH Development LLC.
Eight new homes were permitted in January for $1,424,504.
As a whole, the city issued 26 permits last month for $7,455,176. That is nearly three times the $2,745,301 on 24 permits taken out in January 2024.
