BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO CONSIDER 2025-26 CALENDAR

A lengthy agenda awaits the Burton School Board when it meets on Monday.

Among the items of note are voting on Burton ISD’s proposed 2025-26 school calendar, resolutions related to the compensation of teachers and staff due to last month’s winter weather and Thursday’s water outage, and an application for a low attendance day waiver.

Trustees will also consider an order of a school board election on May 3rd for the positions currently held by Demetrius Colvin Sr. and Jeff Harmel.

Other business will include possible revisions to the 2024-25 district improvement plan and student code of conduct, as well as a localized board policy manual update.

Several items are expected to be taken up in executive session.  One of those is a resolution to engage Barron & Newburger, P.C. to represent the district in legal action as a bankruptcy attorney related to the construction project.  The contracts of the elementary and high school principals, maintenance/transportation director, business manager and athletic director will also be reviewed and potentially acted upon.

The board will meet Monday at 6 p.m. in the Burton ISD cafeteria.
