CUBETTES BOUNCE BACK TO BEAT JUDSON 11-2 AT THE LEADOFF CLASSIC

The Brenham Cubette Softball Team shook off a 12-2 loss to Santa Fe earlier in the day to come back and beat Judson 11-2 last (Thursday) night at Alumni Field.

Brenham got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning. Avery Maurer drew the leadoff walk, stole second, stole third, and then scored on an error by the catcher to give the Cubettes a 1-0 lead.

Sarah Mabie also walked, stole second, and advanced to third on an infield hit by McKenzie Tiemann. Harper Castillo would draw a walk as well to load the bases. Kyla Garcia reached on a fielder's choice that also allowed Mabie to score.

Aldyn Jaks hit an RBI single that allowed Tiemann to score. Castillo tried to score too, but was caught at the plate. Kinley Antkowiak followed with a sacrifice fly that scored Garcia to give Brenham a 4-0 lead.

Judson would get on the board with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning to cut the lead in half 4-2.

The Cubettes would put the game away with six runs in the bottom of the third. Castillo singled, and came around to score on an RBI triple by Garcia. Jaks singled home Garcia to make it 6-2 Brenham.

Jaks stole second and went to third on an RBI single by Antkowiak. Maurer had a two-run triple that allowed both Jaks and Antkowiak to score. That was followed by an RBI double by Mabie, and an RBI triple by Tiemann to put the Cubettes ahead 10-2.

Brenham would get one more run in the bottom of the fourth. Ali Tiemann drew a leadoff walk. She then proceeded to steal second, third, and home to increase the Cubette lead to 11-2.

Kylie Baker went the first three innings to get the win. Laityn Davis pitched the final two innings to preserve the victory.

Brenham is back in action with two more games at the Leadoff Classic this (Friday) afternoon. The Cubettes will face San Antonio Johnson at 3pm, followed by Buda Johnson at 5pm.
