FILING DEADLINE PASSES FOR MAY 3RD ELECTION

  

The filing deadline passed on Friday for candidates to get their names on the ballot for the May 3rd election.

For the Brenham City Council, they will have two contested races. In Ward One, the incumbent, Shannan Canales, is going to be opposed by challenger Steve Soman. For Position 6 At-Large, the incumbent, Leah Cook, is opposed by challenger Alan Lehmann.

Meanwhile, Dr. Paul LaRoche III, for Ward Three, and Clint Kolby, for Position Five, are unopposed for re-election.

There will also be a city charter amendment election with 12 propositions on the ballot.

The Brenham School Board will have three contested elections on the ballot. For Position Five, David Jantzi will face Shawn Koonce. The incumbent, Tommie Sullivan, did not file for re-election. For Position Six, Mike Garner will face Justin Colley. The incumbent, current Board President Natalie Lange, did not file for re-election.  For Position Seven, the incumbent, Jared Krenek, will be opposed by Walt Edmunds.

The Burton City Council has three contested races on the ballot. Mayor Karen Buck is being opposed for re-election by current Position Three City Councilman Jeff Eckhardt. For Position One, the incumbent, Nathan Kalkhake, will face a challenge from Chuck Johnson. For Position Four, the incumbent, Paul McLaughlin, will face a challenge from Berneake Gantt.

For the Burton School Board, only the incumbents, Demetrius Colvin Sr. and Jeff Harmel, have filed for re-election.

For the Blinn College Board of Trustees, only the three incumbents Richard O’Malley, Jim Kolkhorst, and Dennis Crowson have filed for re-election.

Also on the May 3rd Ballot will be the creation of the Chappell Hill/Meyersville VFD Emergency Services District.
